Olivia

This is the second Christmas Commission - Olivia. Olivia is a hockey player. :) Merry Christmas!

And this is the rough sketch. :)

Alexis

I love creating illustrated avatars! Of course they are more than just headshots at times, they are full illustrations depicting whatever is important to the person I am drawing. This is Alexis, a teenager who wants to be a news anchor. This was a Christmas commission and I hope she loves it!

Below is the rough sketch that was created in Photoshop. I really like the sketches as well. They have a different, organic, sort of feeling to them.

Friends

Matt and Darcy at age 7! If we had known each other at age 7! :D Matt is a daredevil (and apparently I was spot on with the cape... he tried to fly when he was little!) and Darcy is a little girl in large glasses with crayons. For some reason, this drawing reminds me of the "Ramona" books that I used to read when I was younger. :)

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, my friends. I hope that everyone is having a great Christmas Eve. This morning we got the wonderful surprise of waking up to a blizzard! It's going to be a White Christmas!

I want to give thanks for all of the wonderful people in my life. I feel blessed to be surrounded by wonderful family and friends, close and far away. You are all here in my heart, everyday. I Love You!

My family is in the process of filling the stockings before going to bed. I am waiting my turn and keeping my eyes from wandering over to the tree. Hee hee. My Dad just retired for the evening, my Grandma on my Dad's side just went home, my Grandma on my Mom's side is filling stockings, and Grandpa just went up the stairs to go to bed. I am sure that Mom and I will be up for a while before finally retiring for the evening. I love Christmas Eve. :)

My brother is home in North Carolina, and he is here in spirit. I LOVE YOU DOUGLAS!

Have a wonderful night!

Completion is looking GOOD!

Ahhh! One of the things that I love about drawing are the challenges that help me to grow as an artist (and ultimately as a person.) That, and the fact that it is so much fun! But fun doesn't necessarily mean easy. There are times where I doubt myself or times where I want to throw my pen across the room (ask my parents... they have witnessed this. :P Of course I was much younger then!). But on the other side of that frustration is so much satisfaction when I push through to the other side.

"The Children's Book of Necromancy" is the first project of this scope that I have ever taken on. And I have learned so much from it! This weekend is my last illustration marathon for this particular book and I am relishing every moment of it! I look forward to announcing that it is ready for you to read!

That being said... it's time to draw. :)

Concept Sketches for "A Children's Book of Necromancy"

Priscilla and Agatha, the two stars of "A Children's Book of Necromancy". I created these way back in May. It's been a labor of love to be a part of creating the illustrations for this book. Stay tuned for the release date sometime this month!
