Etsy

Hi Friends! Soon... very soon... I am going to have my very own Etsy shop. What is an Etsy shop? I am glad you asked! Etsy.com is this FABULOUS place where you can buy and sell all things handmade! I am starting a shop to sell my paper cuts and to see where it goes from there. I will let you know the moment it opens. :)

I am already in love with the variety and creativity of all that is offered on this site. Today I made my very first purchase. Arm warmers! So... you might ask "Why is a girl living in Dallas, TX, in April, even THINKING about arm warmers? To be honest, I wasn't until I came across these two very funky and lovely products!!!!! Is it winter yet? :P I am so excited to receive them.

Can you see me... sitting at my table... in the wintertime... with a cup of hot tea... an x-acto blade... surrounded by paper... with these lovelies keeping me warm? :P

In support of the artist who created them, I will provide you with a link so that you can see her lovely store.

"I try to use all natural fibers, and I put a lot of thought into the artistry and color combining. I rock out to crazy music and sing off key as I sew, and I would like to think that the happy energy gets tangled in the stitches!"

Awesome! I sing off key, too! And I love happy energy. I also like that they are made from recycled materials.

Enjoy - katwise

Theatre

This week's Illustration Friday topic is "Theatre". These weekly topics give me an opportunity to sit down and quickly sketch out an idea.

"Penelope patiently waits for her queue to come on stage. She bravely trusts that she will remember every line."

Impossible

This is a quick sketch created for Illustration Friday's topic of "Impossible".

It is impossible for a child to love their stuffed friends too much. One of my favorite books as a child was the "Velveteen Rabbit." Anything or anyone that receives that much love can only grow more beautiful.

Ghost Papercut in Progress

My first tracing of the ghost to establish an outline.

It took about four hours of careful cutting with an X-Acto.

Up close shot

All cut out! Next I will clean up the edges and begin to
block out areas of color using different papers!

Ghost

Ghosts are "fleeting" ... you see them one minute... and then they vanish the next!

He needs a name... he isn't "Casper the friendly ghost"... he is "Insert Here"... suggestions?
